What is the method of adding refrigerant to air cooled water chiller system?

  Addition of refrigerant

During the use of air-cooled chillers, there may be insufficient or missing refrigerant due to various reasons (such as refrigerant leakage, maintenance, etc.). To ensure the normal operation of the air-cooled chiller unit, it is necessary to add refrigerant. The following is the method of adding refrigerant:

  1. Safety inspection

Before adding refrigerant, it is important to conduct a safety check on the entire system. Firstly, check for cracks, leaks, etc. After inspection, determine the amount of refrigerant to be added based on the type of refrigerant used.

  2. Material preparation

After determining the amount of refrigerant to be added, materials such as refrigerant, brass valves, and valve gaskets need to be prepared. Usually, refrigerants are sold in bottles or barrels, and it is necessary to confirm that the purchased refrigerant is the same model as the air cooled chiller you are using.

  3. System emptying

Before adding refrigerant, it is necessary to evacuate the air and water in the system. This process can be achieved by connecting a vacuum pump, forced exhaust, and other means.

  4. Add refrigerant

When adding refrigerant, it is necessary to first turn off the power supply of the air-cooled chiller, and then connect the refrigerant to the corresponding pipeline of the chiller. Usually, refrigerant is injected through two ports, high-pressure and low-pressure, and it needs to be connected correctly according to the pipeline connection method of the chiller. When adding refrigerant, it is necessary to gradually inject it to ensure that each addition of refrigerant only occupies 10-20% of the total amount of refrigerant in the cold water machine.

  5. Inspection

After adding refrigerant, restart the air-cooled chiller after a period of time, and check it after 15 minutes of operation to confirm whether the system operates normally.
